What will we visit on this tour?
Take a half-day tour to Maras, Moray, and Chinchero, a perfect addition to your visit to the world-renowned Machu Picchu. In Chinchero, visit a textile center managed by indigenous women, where you’ll observe the full process of traditional Inca weaving, from spinning the wool to dyeing and weaving the fabrics. Then, head to the Maras Salt Mines to see the remarkable saltwater springs and the network of over 4,000 salt wells, used for extracting salt for culinary, medicinal, and agricultural purposes. Finally, explore Moray, an Inca agricultural site featuring impressive circular terraces, thought to be used for farming experiments. This tour begins and ends in the city of Cusco.

Maras Salt Mines
The Maras Salt Mines consist of over 4,000 salt ponds carved into the mountainside by the Incas. Located on the slopes of Qori Pujio Mountain in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (near Cusco, Peru), these salt flats have been operated by local families for over 500 years. From a distance, the pools appear to resemble a layer of snow, with their varying shades of white and earthy brown creating a striking and unique landscape. Among the most prized products of these salt mines is the Peruvian pink salt, a legacy of ancient cultures. While humans crafted the salt flats, the pools are continually filled with water from a natural underground spring, which flows quietly and steadily, enriching the ponds with this precious mineral

Moray inca site
The Sacred Valley of the Incas is home to a remarkable example of agricultural engineering, which was discovered over 90 years ago and continues to intrigue researchers today. The origin of the name Moray is generally believed to come from Quechua, though its precise meaning remains uncertain. Several historians suggest that it could be derived from the combination of the words "Muyu," meaning round, and "Aymora," which refers to corn harvest or the month of March. These interpretations hint at the agricultural and seasonal significance of this fascinating site.

Chinchero
The ancient town of Chinchero is one of the most picturesque locations in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This charming village offers a unique opportunity to experience the living Inca culture, preserving traditions that have been passed down through generations. At the heart of Chinchero is its stunning main square, which was built atop the ruins of an Inca palace. On Sundays, the square comes alive with a traditional market, where ancient trading practices continue to thrive. Visitors can also see locals wearing the colorful, traditional clothing of their ancestors, adding to the town's timeless appeal.
